NEPAN, the HelpAge partner in Nepal, will be building on their great success last year by meeting the President of Nepal, Dr Ram Baran Yadav.
Between 17 and 22 September, the campaign team has taken to the streets of Kathmandu to get signatures for a petition which will be handed to the President on 2 October. The petition will call for the protection of older people's rights in the new constitution of Nepal.
As well as leading members of NEPAN, the delegation who will meet the president will include representatives from the Gothatar Senior Citizen Shikhar Society and the Senior Citizen Service Center. The delegation will also be supported by ex Member of Parliament, Gorakh Bogati.

In addition to these great activities, NEPAN have filmed a documentary on older people's lives that will be aired on Nepal TV Channel 2.

Tens of thousands of people signed NEPAN's petition which succeeded in increasing the universal pension allowance and reduced the age of eligibility from 75 to 70.
