Work with us

Why work for HelpAge?

Working at HelpAge means being part of a global organisation committed to impact, learning and partnership. Our work is driven by strong mission, vision and values, as well as a shared purpose: improving the lives of older people, particularly those most at risk of exclusion.

We are a diverse, international organisation, with colleagues based across multiple countries and contexts. Our teams work collaboratively across regions, disciplines and cultures, often in complex and rapidly changing environments.

We value integrity, accountability and respect, and we seek people who are motivated not only by what we do, but how we do it.

Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

HelpAge is committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce. We value the different perspectives, experiences and backgrounds that our colleagues bring, and we strive to create a respectful and inclusive working environment for all. We welcome applications from qualified candidates regardless of race, colour, sex gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion or belief, nationality, or any other protected characteristic. Our recruitment processes are designed to be fair, transparent and based on merit, in line with our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) commitments.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for people who share our commitment to the rights and dignity of older people and who align with HelpAge’s mission, values and ways of working.

Depending on the role, we seek candidates with strong technical expertise, collaborative and cross-cultural working skills, integrity, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

All roles involve international collaboration, and some also travel, and candidates should be comfortable working in a global, distributed organisation.

What we offer:

  • Learning and growth opportunities: HelpAge encourages continuous learning and professional development. Staff have access to a range of learning resources, learning sessions, workshops and leadership development opportunities. We support colleagues to take ownership of their development and to grow their skills in line with organisational needs and personal aspirations.
  • Compensation and benefits: HelpAge offers competitive and context-appropriate compensation packages, aligned with local labour markets. Benefits vary by location and contract type, based on local labour law, but we may include additional leave entitlements, social security and internet allowance. We also prioritise staff safety, security and wellbeing, particularly for roles operating in higher-risk contexts.
  • Flexible working model: HelpAge is a globally distributed organisation, with staff working across multiple countries and time zones. We offer flexible working arrangements where operationally feasible, including remote and hybrid working models, in line with role requirements and legal frameworks. Staff must have the legal right to work in their location.
  • Wellbeing and work–life balance: Staff wellbeing is important to HelpAge. In addition to annual leave entitlements, we offer wellbeing initiatives such as: wellbeing days (last Thursday/Friday of the month), birthday leave, and Employee Assistance Programmes, as well as organisational practices that promote sustainable workloads and healthy ways of working. We continue to strengthen our wellbeing approach through policies, guidance and support mechanisms, recognising the diverse contexts in which our staff work.
