Localisation in practice: how HelpAge supports local leadership

HelpAge is changing how it works around the world – placing local leadership and partner-led programming at the heart of our approach.

Across different countries, we are finding new ways to bring this to life. In some contexts, former HelpAge offices are transitioning to become independent national organisations – members of the HelpAge global network. In others, we are working closely with local partners to design and deliver programmes that respond to the needs of older people.

These diverse approaches reflect our commitment to shifting power, funding and decision-making to organisations that are rooted in the communities they serve. Whether providing health and care services, delivering emergency support, leading advocacy, or championing the rights of older people – local leadership is central.

This is what localisation looks like in practice. Explore some of the ways it is happening across the HelpAge global network.
