Situation of older people in Sudan

As Sudan’s conflict continues into its third year, millions of civilians have been forced from their homes. Among those most affected are older people, who often have the fewest resources, the least mobility, and face the most challenges accessing to help.   

Since fighting erupted in April 2023, the country has seen repeated waves of displacement. Initially restricted to Khartoum and Darfur regions, civilians are now faced with worsening armed conflict in the Kordofan region as well, and are at the risk of escalated violence, confinement and starvation.
