What is HelpAge International doing to support people and their mental health in Ukraine?

As part of our response in the oblasts of Lvivska, Chernivetska and Dnipropetrovska, we are focussing on delivering basic needs and services, providing security and offering specific support and activities so people feel more settled, can adjust and begin their recovery.

This includes distributing food and hygiene items and setting up community safe spaces for people to meet, take part in activities and receive support to access the services they need. Community volunteers, many displaced themselves, are being trained to provide home-based care and psychosocial support for older people. We are also supporting carers of older people, who are often relatives living under stress too.
