The Dominica Council On Ageing Inc. (DCOA Inc.) continues to promote the dignity and well-being of Older Persons across the island.

The Dominica Council on Ageing Inc. (DCOA Inc.) continues to play a vital role in promoting the dignity, well-being, and social inclusion of Older Persons across the island. Through community-centered activities and targeted support initiatives, DCOA remains committed to ensuring that Older Persons are valued, respected, and supported within their communities.

On February 13, 2026, DCOA hosted its “Hearts of Gold” Pre‑Valentine’s Evening, an event that brought together Older Persons for an evening of fellowship, connection, and celebration. The gathering provided a meaningful space for social interaction and collective joy, reinforcing the importance of companionship and community in later life.

In early March, DCOA also carried out a special outreach initiative in Marigot, supporting Mr. Asher Timothy, the oldest centenarian in Dominica at 108 years old. As part of this initiative, the DCOA team conducted a clean‑up of his home and surrounding environment, demonstrating practical care, solidarity, and respect for one of the island’s most senior citizens.

This quarter was marked by both moments of loss and celebration within Dominica’s centenarian community. DCOA mourned the passing of two centenarians, while also welcoming a new centenarian and celebrating the birthdays of two others. Among them was Mrs. Edvira Anatol of Penville, the oldest woman in Dominica at 105 years old. At present, Dominica is home to 13 centenarians — 3 men and 10 women.

Together, these moments reflect the depth and diversity of ageing experiences across the island and highlight the importance of recognizing, honoring, and supporting Older Persons at every stage of later life.

Through community celebrations, direct assistance, and recognition of longevity, DCOA continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to Older Persons in Dominica, fostering dignity, connection, and care throughout the ageing journey.
