HelpAge International is the leading global NGO working on ageing and older people's issues. We bring together more than 114 affiliates and 200 partners working with older people in over 50 countries, working to promote the rights and meet the needs of older women and men, nationally and/or internationally.
HelpAge are seeking to appoint a devoted trustee who is driven by their commitment to and passion for the cause of population ageing. As ageing takes a more central place on the global development and humanitarian agenda, HelpAge are transitioning to a future where it will focus increasingly on working through a network of age-focused organisations across the globe.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Board of Trustees to support and help drive the cause at a global level. As a trustee, you will be instrumental in planning the strategic future and directing the affairs of HelpAge, ensuring that it is solvent, well-run and delivers the charitable outcomes for which it was established. You will be responsible for three particular duties, compliance, care and prudence, as well as acting as an "ambassador" of HelpAge International.
You will have the knowledge and understanding to maintain an oversight of a wide range of activities at a strategic level in a large and complex charity. You will also be able to contribute well-informed views, challenge constructively and have a commitment to best practice. Professional and/or practitioner experience at a senior level is highly desirable.
It is essential that you have empathy with the vision, mission and aims of HelpAge International and also the willingness and ability to devote the necessary time and effort.
