HelpAge International's vision is a world where older people fulfil their potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives. We are the secretariat of the HelpAge network, bringing together more than 114 affiliates and 200 partners working with older people in over 50 countries.
We are currently seeking a Regional Programme Advisor Humanitarian to provide strategic leadership of HelpAge humanitarian response work in the Asia region, as well as to offer high quality technical support on emergency work to country offices and the network. The Regional Programme Advisor will lead in development and management of emergency programs, represent HelpAge in regional and global technical forums, and develop strategic partnerships in programming including DRR, resource development and advocacy.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience expected
As the ideal candidate, you will have solid experience in initiating and managing humanitarian emergency responses and in-depth knowledge of preparedness and contingency planning for emergency response. It is required that you have a degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of experience in humanitarian sector with understanding of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors, and best practices in emergency management. You will be able to demonstrate strong influencing, analytical and communication skills required for the role.
Knowledge of working with older people’s issues and experience of working with international networks globally or in the context of Asia is desirable but not essential.
