Key responsibilities

We are currently seeking Global Adviser – Violence, abuse and neglect. You will be part of the Global Technical Unit, which provides strategic leadership to HelpAge and network members in core thematic areas, social protection, health and care, and protection. As part of the protection team, the Global Adviser - Violence, abuse and neglect will be responsible for shaping the direction and focus of HelpAge’s global response to issues of violence, abuse and neglect in older age, under the supervision and with the support of the Humanitarian Protection Advisor and in line with its organisational strategy and Theory of Change. The role requires up to 60% travel.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience

The ideal candidate will have Masters-level degree preferred (Social Work, International Relations/Development, Humanities, International Law, or related field). Ability to lead, train, supervise, facilitate and motivate other protection or violence, abuse and neglect staff in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner. It is essential that you have experience working in difficult locations and the ability to be resourceful and flexible in a limited resource environment.
