We are the secretariat of the HelpAge global network, in over 75 countries through more than 120 organisations in the HelpAge global network, supported by more than 20 national and regional HelpAge International hubs.

Job Profile

We are currently seeking a Global Adviser – MEAL to coordinate, promote and support the development and implementation of organisation-wide approaches to programme planning and reporting, monitoring and evaluation for accountability and learning. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to contribute to our efforts to deliver real change for older women and men in low- and middle-income countries. We are over half way through an ambitious 5-year strategic framework to drive forward our programmes and have recently renewed our strategic focus for 2018-20. Improving the quality of our MEAL work is key to our success in this. This is where you come in.

Your role

Based in London within our Global Technical Unit, you will lead work to deliver the following key outcomes:

·       Agreed global policy framework for guidance on MEAL approaches, standards, methods and tools across HelpAge regions

·       Strengthened MEAL skills and confidence of key staff, and increasingly Network members, across all regions

·       More effective management and use of M&E data, evidence and learning from programmes to inform HelpAge’s programming, thematic and advocacy and Network objectives and its performance reporting to key stakeholders.

Your profile

You will bring significant experience of design, development, quality-assurance and use of MEAL systems and approaches, at both organisational and programme levels, across development, humanitarian and advocacy contexts. You will have some knowledge and experience of using qualitative and quantitative data collection design and analysis methods, and proficiency in statistical packages. You will match this with the skills and commitment to bring people and teams together to ensure that we strengthen our effectiveness, accountability and learning through improved MEAL. But most important will be your ability to enthuse your colleagues, our partners and members – to foster creativity and learning, and support them in harnessing our programmes, partnerships and network to deliver, learn from and demonstrate concrete results for older people and their communities.

Closing date:  Thursday 22 February 2018

Start date: April 2018
