Working for life: making decent work and pensions a reality for older people

This HelpAge International report calls on European Union (EU) decision makers responsible for development cooperation to include older people in decent work policy and programming.

It also asks that older people are provided with social pensions.

This report examines the key issues of decent work; what it is, whether it is a way out of poverty and decent work in EU development co-operation.

Working for life also looks at issues around older people and work and whether pensions are an affordable strategy.

The paper draws on the experiences and insights of older people 
in Bangladesh, Peru and Uganda who took part in focus group
discussions and interviews.

Uganda Reach the Aged Association (URAA), Resource Integration Centre (RIC) and Instituto para el Desarrollo  de la Pesca y la Minería (IPEMIN) organised and facilitated the focus group discussions and  interviews.
