This week, older activists involved in HelpAge's Age Demands Action campaign are standing up for older people's rights at the United Nations Open Ended Working Group on Ageing session (OEWG in New York.

It is one year since the devastating flooding in Pakistan which affected 20 million people and killed over 3,000. Even now though, the country is struggling to recover and the monsoon season is fast approaching.

HelpAge is providing emergency relief to 6,400 households in Borena, Ethiopia. We are distributing cash grants to older people so they can buy the food they need, and animal feed and veterinary care for livestock.

As the presidential election in Peru ended on June 5th, the prospect of a social pension for all Peruvians came a step closer. The winner was Ollanta Humala who, as a key election pledge, promised that his government would introduce a minimum pension for everyone over the age of 65.
