Age Demands Action 2011 planning gets underway in the Philippines.

Five years on and Age Demands Action is bigger and better than ever. The campaign has spread acros the globe from 26 countries in 2007, to more than 55 in 2011!
The global movement continues to reach new corners of the globe. This year we are delighted that older people in countries from Chilé to Ukraine are uniting under the Age Demands Action banner for the very first time.
Even though Age Demands Action has evolved and grown, its core element - older people calling for their governments to lead in fighting age discrimination and poverty - remains the same.
What's happening around the world?
- In Burkina Faso, campaigners will meet the Minister of Health. They want older women who have been driven from their homes due to witchcraft accusations to have access to healthcare.
- In Jamaica, older people are campaigning against exclusion from a number of different policies including the Ministry of Labour's national income generation scheme.
You can get the complete picture of what is happening, and where, for ADA this year, on our interactive map.
Messages around the world
A message of support for older people's rights. You can send yours in too!

This year, we want as many people as possible around the world to know about Age Demands Action. That's why ADA 2011 will be louder, brighter and more attention-grabbing than ever before! There will be over 20 public marches, some led by live bands, and an array of publc events such as street theatre, TV shows and even an ADA radio jingle in Nepal.
We are also asking people of all ages to send a photo of themselves or a group, holding messages of support for older people's rights.
You can get involved too! All you have to do is send an image of yourself with your message of support to campaigns@helpage.org.
We will be updating the website with messages and images, as well as showing you the latest ADA plans in our new photo blog!
Age Demands Action leaders
In 2011 for the first time, we are also working closely with "Age Demands Action leaders"!
Each leader has been nominated by their friends, family and campaign partners to act as local and national representatives, for their ADA campaign. These fantastic and inspirational leaders will be speaking out about their experiences fighting age discrimination in their communities.
One of our Age Demands Action leaders is Mr Shehada from Gaza, who will be taking part in many events around 1 October. You can read more about Mr Shehada and what is happening for ADA in the occupied Palestinian territiories, in our ADA blog.
