HelpAge International is working with 28 partners in 10 countries in Latin America on practical projects to improve the quality of life of older people in the region.

The social protection for older people in Latin America project takes place in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru with three major themes: To raise awareness with the region's governments, to influence international agencies and public opinion and to give older people technical training in social protection. Over 70,000 older people in Bolivia and Peru believe their quality of life will improve if they can work with their municipalities. This can be achieved by strengthening older people's organisations and demanding increased inclusion in municipal programmes and budgets. | Urban food production for older people in Quito, Ecuador | |

This project in Ecuador supports older people and their families living in a poor neighbourhood on the outskirts of Quito, by providing them with new skills and techniques to help them adapt rural farming methods to their new urban environment.
