We take a broad-ranging approach to addressing the needs of older people in the region, combining advocacy and policy work with practical projects that have tangible results. Our programmes focus on ensuring that ageing is at the centre of development processes, supporting livelihoods and mitigating the effects of natural disasters. A central element of our work is supporting older people to advocate for their rights, and influencing policies that affect them.

The Caribbean is highly susceptible to natural disasters, such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Older people are among the most vulnerable as they can suffer from physical frailty and poor health. Our work with older people aims to put them at the centre of disaster-preparedness efforts.
