Age Demands Action 2007

HelpAge Zimbabwe had planned to participate in Age Demands Action 2007. However, due to the political situation they were unable to meet with ministers to present their list of asks.

What's planned for 2008?

Despite a tense political climate, HelpAge Zimbabwe is hoping that their delegation will  meet with relevant national ministries on 1 October. These include the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare and the Minister of State for Policy Implementation.

The delegation will put forward a list of asks, which will include:

  • Approving the 2005 Bill for Older Persons.
  • HIV and AIDS awareness programmes for older people.
  • Free medical care and treatment for those aged over 65.
  • Free access to utilities for those over the age of 65 including water and electricity.

The delegation

Dr Claire Nyandoro, older social worker.

Mrs Kadandara, older Health Services Board Member.

Mrs Kapembeza, older widow.

Eugenia Jumbe, older widow taking care of orphans and an older relative.

Nyahada Stella, older widow without any source of income.
