300 older people attended a celebratory seminar called "Active ageing: Following in H.M. the King's Footsteps". This was well received by the public and the media.

Panus is a retired school teacher and former owner of a kindergarten in Bangkok. He became ill after being exposed to dangerous pesticides on his own flower farm. Since his recovery, he has been actively promoting bio-farming.
Sutthinee is a former teacher and has become more involved in community activities since her retirement. She is a former president of the Older People's Association in Nong Seng, Chiang Mai.
Sutthinee is keen to contribute to the development of her community, and she has a particular interest in promoting traditional ceremonies and cultural activities.
• 11% of the population is over the age of 60. This age group is expected to increase to over 28% by 2050.
• 48% of men and 27% of women over the age of 60 are active in the labour force.
