Our partners at Balta Maja are taking part in Age Demands Action for the first time this year.
What's planned for 2008?
Balta Maja have arranged for 30 older people from each municipality to represent their community in regional meetings. A total of 1,500 older people will take part!
100 leaders of older people's groups will be involved in a national roundtable meeting with NGOs, representatives from the Latvian Parliament and Latvian MEPs.
The Age Demands Action delegation will ask their government to make a committment to invest in:
- the social pension scheme
- inter-generational programmes to create understanding and empathy between young and old Latvians.
