Many older people in Ecuador participate in income generating activities such as vegetable farming.

Age Demands Action took place in Ecuador for the first time this year.

What happened in 2008?

HelpAge International Latin America worked with the National Association of Older People in Ecuador. They put together a delegation of older people who addressed the Deputy Minister of Development on 1 October.

The key issues discussed at the meeting covered the following themes:

  • social protection
  • health
  • livelihoods
  • disaster risk reduction.
