Doņa Victoria Mamani lived the last eight years of her life with the awichas (grandmothers) in a communal house in La Paz, Bolivia. She died in 2003 aged 92. The housing programme is run by HelpAge International and helped Doņa Victoria escape the poverty that many older women face. We also helped her to access the Bonosol, a non-contributory pension.
