Our staff working in Haiti.

In our approach to our work, we emphasise:

Social justice and empowerment:

  • We put older men and women at the heart of our work, involving them in programme design, implementation and review
  • We work with the most disadvantaged and vulnerable older people, speaking out on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves.

Partnerships:

  • We work in partnership with like-minded organisations, especially those working with children and families.

Service delivery:

  • We provide services where governments are failing to reach older men and women
  • We respond to emergencies quickly and effectively and help older people build their resilience to natural disasters and political crises.

Evidence and policy change:

  • We develop ways of improving older people’s lives by monitoring our programmes and recording their effectiveness
  • We use robust evidence to persuade policy makers to address ageing issues.
