HelpAge India is restoring farmland damaged by the Indian Ocean tsunami.

Help the Aged (UK) is our largest donor, providing us with core and programme funding. It is also a leading partner in our global network of not-for-profit organisations.

Our partnership with Help the Aged is longstanding. Help the Aged was one of the founding members of the HelpAge International network in 1983, and has continued to support us since then. We work in partnership with Help the Aged on several key programmes, including support to tsunami survivors in India and Sri Lanka, and to survivors of the South Asian earthquake.

Help the Aged raises the majority of funds for our work through direct marketing appeals to the UK public. Almost half of these funds are raised through the Sponsor a Grandparent scheme (formerly Adopt a Granny), in which individuals support older people in developing countries by making regular contributions. The remaining funds are raised through specific appeals, for example, for eye care or to support older people affected by HIV/AIDS.

Help the Aged’s support also includes funds raised through the Disasters Emergency Committee.
