The Big Lottery Fund has supported us regularly since its international grants programme started in 1996.
It has funded the following projects: establishing a network of older people's organisations in Eastern and Central Europe; supporting older people to lobby for change in Latin America; strengthening older people's advocacy activities in Asia and Africa; and reducing older people's poverty in the Caribbean.
The Big Lottery Fund is currently supporting:
- a four-year programme to establish a network of older people's organisations in nine countries in South-East Europe. The network will promote older people's inclusion in civil society and raise awareness of their rights
- a three-year programme to promote older people's rights in Latin America, including setting up socio-legal centres in Bolivia and Peru, and supporting national and regional older people's networks
- a four-year programme in Vietnam to set up peer-support groups for people affected by HIV/AIDS.
